The Human Resources Officer’s aim is to ensure that our organization employs the right balance of staff in terms of skill and experience, and that training and development opportunities are available to colleagues to enhance their performance and achieve the company's business goals.
• Working closely with various departments, increasingly in a consultancy role, assisting line managers to understand and implement policies and procedures.
• Improve manager and employee performance by identifying and clarifying problems; evaluating potential solutions; implementing selected solution; coaching and counseling managers and employees.
• Prepare, develop and implement procedures and policies on staff recruitment. Provide tools for field managers to ensure consistent recruitment and hiring practices.
• Conducts new hire orientation for employees and contractors, new hire paperwork and background checks. Ensures that accurate job descriptions are in place.
• Maintain corporate organizational charts.
• Participate in developing department goals, objectives, and systems.
• Monitor performance evaluation programs and revise as necessary.
• Administering payroll and maintaining employee records. Ensure accuracy and timeliness of all input.
• Planning and sometimes delivering training.
• Dealing with grievances and implementing disciplinary procedures.
• Interpreting and advising on employment law.
• Monitor daily attendance.
• Promote workplace safety.
Education: Bachelor degree in human resources, business administration, law or psychology. Fully bilingual English-Spanish.
Job Skills and requirements:
• Strong general knowledge of Nicaraguan employment laws and practices.
• Problem-solving skills, extremely detail-oriented, proactive and organized.
• Ability to communicate sensitive information to appropriate contacts in a confidential manner.
• Handle confidential/sensitive issues with diplomacy and fairness.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Self-directed, professional and excellent interpersonal skills.
• Strong customer service focus.
• Ability to work on multiple projects while managing deadlines.
• Demonstrate integrity, maturity and a constructive approach to challenges.
• Understanding of HR metrics and related reporting.
• 3 years minimum of progressive experience in Human Resources positions required.
